• I am sure I've stumbled onto something that AC have not yet announced... Seems like they have introduced a new kind of discount J fare for travel in Canada during the summer months.

These are booked in C class, fare basis is CSUMMER, Sat night stay required, 30 days max stay, changes are permitted at $145 before and after departure.

    YYZ-YVR $1798
    YYZ-YYC/YEG $1506
    YVR-YUL $1939
    YVR-YOW $1879
    YVR-YHZ $2140
    YYZ-YOW $413
    YYZ-YUL $454
    YYC-YOW $1585
    YYZ-YWG $955
    YYZ-YHZ $841
    YYZ-YYJ $1840
    YVR-YYC $555
    YVR-YEG $648
    YVR-YWG $1058

These fares are valid for travel from Jun 22 - Aug 30. If you think these fares look familar, think of RootsAir! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

  • C class also has 25% Q bonus for COS

  • I think After Burner convinced them.

    FT rules!

  • These fares are so Air Canada can compete with Canada 3000's new business class, perhaps?

  • This is good news. But I assume these fares are temporary. And as Empress pointed out, SEs would be better off upgrading V class fares (assuming an unlimited supply of upgrades).

  • They are CAD $$... pretty good deal if are not Elite/SuperElite and can't upgrade. There is a 7 days advance purchase requirement on these.

There is no point for SE to get these fares because they can just buy a V/H (which also has a 7 days advance purchase requirement) and upgrade and since both upgrade and this fare comes from the same inventory, they are both the same.

  • some of those fares are pretty good. i presume they are return?

  • These fares do show up on the AC booking site now, as C-class. I was booking some people out from YEG and noticed the new category for the first time this morning. They hadn't been there as a bookable option last week when I was making other bookings.

Pricing is interesting, $1150 return taxes and fees included, versus $702 YEG-YOW in the lowest category of economy fare (Q,L). An upgradable V fare is $850 return. So I suppose it becomes a futher enticement to take a front cabin seat at time of booking for non SEs by paying $300 more.

Normally, what class-of-service bonus is given for C-class? I assume it is 25% also.

  • AB: These fares are only good for travel up to and including Aug 30. For us SEs, if we can't upgrade, that means there are no C class available which also mean this particular discount J fare is also not available. Since the rules for the V fare and C fare is identical, it would be real silly for us to get the higher one. However, this will be real nice for those who can't upgrade normally or for E who are willing to pay an extra couple hundred to get their upgrades confirmed. This is most likely another attempt on AC's part to get more business travellers.

  • Thanks Empress, and for the additional info too.

  • Are these prices in Canadian, or US$.
