• Hello all, just joined the forum tonight, but been reading for a while. Great forum! I have been SE for a few years now and can't live without it for all the travel I do. Right now I am only sitting at 80,715 or so. I have a couple trips left to do but wonder 2 things...what will Aeroplan allow for a cut-off or 'close enough' for Q miles totals, and secondly, I have a sunday-monday (2 days free) that I could do a mileage run somewhere if needed and the price wasn't crazy. Any thoughts from the experts? Thanks so much in advance.

  • Again depending on how many miles you have left after your next 2 trips you should take a MR. If you're just short say 4K or so a trip to YVR and back in H with an U/G for around $900 will get you around 5K. Have you gotten the segments in for the 8K Q miles bonus yet. If not a milk run across Canada will help get the segments for that bonus.
    Let us know your needs.
Good to see a fellow oakvillian on board.
Hope you are a habs fan http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

  • Since you live in Oakville, consider UA flights out of BUF. They will earn you status miles on AC & often are much cheaper per mile than AC flights out of YYZ. Since you are SE, you qualify for E+ seating.

  • The reason for making sure that you cross the 100,000 threshold on your own is for the bonuses and miles associated with that, not just the security of knowing that you have SE wrapped up.

  • Are flights to YYC, LGA and FLA on *A? What class of service?

  • Hi all! Thanks for the responses so far. As of today, Here's what I have left to still do...I have a yyz-den and then den-stl (on AA need to get there early) then I have stl back to yyz. following week i have a yyz to lga, then lga to fla, and fla back to yyz. Then right before new years i do yyz to calgary (yyc?) thats all thats booked now. I have 2 weekends or sun-mon or tuesday morning free to do a MR to somewhere. Thinking either to YVR or LAX or even LHR..not too sure where to look for good deals or idea's. Never had to do a MR before, but have been SE for years now. I don't want to miss out this year when i am fairly close. Anybody know what the cut-off will be as far as points? like anywhere past 90,000? or 95,000? I days I am free to travel would be dec 14, 15 and have to be at work in yyz for noon on the 16th. Then 21 and 22 same thing. Basically I have sundays and mondays free right now. Likely can't do a red-eye sat night, but can gert back early tuesday mornings. Any thoughts?

I suppose it depends on your definition of 'crazy'. By crossing the 100K mark you'll get an additional 10K threshold bonus and the 30K bonus as well as requalifying. Since you're SE that's essentially a J-ticket anywhere in NA.

Let us know how much you're willing to spend, how many miles you'll need, and the dates you can travel. I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions.

Can you travel on the Saturday night? If so, you could buy a domestic H ticket and upgrade it to get 125% qualifying miles.

  • Welcome to FT.

Depending on how many more miles you've got to go (after your next two trips), you seriously want to consider a mileage run. I'm not AC anything, but I have friends who are and they love it, as I'm sure you did this year. Although others on this forum may be more knowledgable, I don't beleive Aeroplan will let you slide. Theres a couple folks with 75-100 miles short and they are going to fly them out.

Best of luck and welcome again.

  • not sure what class or fare basis. They will all be booked in economy but upgradeable fares. In fact, I think the FLA flights are in a 'c' class fare or promotion that puts me up front. I don't do these bookings. The travel dept does them. In additon I think I may try to use united with connections to get from LGA to Fla so that i get those miles too. Need to do the math and see what miles i can expect to earn with what i've got coming. and then figure out where to look for the best flights for a MR

  • Over in the UA forum there's a thread about "A" fares - Discounted First class. These would be 150% q-miles on Aeroplan. There was a IAD-HNL fare that would get you quite a few miles in relative comfort. It would probably price out well from BUF or you could do a reward flight from YYZ to get it started. I don't know availability/stay requirements though.
