• I have a 2007 Toshiba. One day I left it on overnight and the next morning the monitor was completely blank. I tried pushing a button but that didn't work so I tried restarting it still nothing. The lights come on telling me that it is on and when I start it up the CD drive flashes an orange light and makes a noise but then everything is quiet and there is only the light telling me it is on. Can anyone tell me possibilities on what this could be and how much it would cost to have it fixed?

  • Sounds like your graphic card went out. The problem in laptops, is that the graphics card is integrated to the motherboard and is not removeable. Might need to look into buying a new pc. Tough break.

  • Before you spend several hundred dollars on a main board (or have to scrap your whole laptop since the board costs more than replacing the whole thing), make sure your LCD didn't fail or at the very least, the backlight in the LCD didn't fail. Try shining a flashlight on the screen. If you can seen logins or your desktop that means the back light died.

You can get a brand new LCD on ebay for most models for ~$125 and a reputable shop will install it for ~$100. However, they will not warranty the part itself since you bought it somewhere else. Understand that going in
