It seems that Royal got the better scraps, than Amex did in terms of what program they could put together. I think from what I have seen the Royal program has better options than the Amex MR program. I will have to wait until I see all the membership details, until I can make any final decision.
I think that Royal moved very quickly too, or that was the impression. Where as Amex has been like the Tortoise. Still no communication or even a letter to their cardholders. I think that they feel as though if they keep quite all will be well. On the other hand that could be because of the class action law suits they have their hands full of.
You should take a look at the Aerogold, it's Advantex meal benefit is great. if you entertain for business, this can add lots of extra Aeroplan points!

In the meantime, my statement indicates that I have earned198 Cdn+ points for purchase made during the billing period, plus 10 AVION points. The Cdn+ points still go into my account automatically, and the bonus AVION points appear to remain and will build up during the dual period through December. I have no idea what the 10 bonus points represents, how it is arrived at, or what.
There is an indication these points may be redeemable as of September 1st, and as I noted in an earlier post, the logos of BA, AA and AS, plus those of Thrifty, Alamo and National car rentals as well as Marriott Hotels, is prominently displayed. (Might Marriott be leaving the "new Aeroplan" and the rental companies left behind as Cdn+ winds up?)
Guess we have another few weeks to await full details.

He was right though, since my upcoming trip actually ends on 1/9 and if my new card were to come while I was away, I was worried the Platinum would be rejected.
So I'm hanging in a while longer, they promise me they'll prorate the Platinum fee if I cancel mid-year.
